How To Softencotton Hanky

The departmental archives of Ille-et-Vilaine

few words about my brief visit to Departmental Archives of Ille-et-Vilaine yesterday relocated two years now in a beautiful and impressive building by architect Vitart Ibos. To be brief (you can find complete information on these pages the website of AD), I was seduced by the choice of architect (especially the changing rooms and seats in the conference room) and ovens working with the character of the building highlighted by its users. This seems to meet all the criteria described by the ideal building manuals (tours differentiated store standards, large reading room, loading dock very broad, large rooms, sorting, and can even add an underground car park for staff). The bias seems quite close to that adopted for Pierrefitte (if I understood the project) with a block of shops behind and in front of the premises intended for public reception and staff offices connected by corridors to the stores. I also noted the presence of several workshops and photo restoration (with staff permanently, is rare enough to be highlighted here!). Three points still leave me doubtful: the importance of glass surfaces that cover almost throughout the building and especially the fronts of shops facing south and the roof of the reading room, the choice of an air conditioning system cost and complexity of known defects and now the location of this center on the outskirts of Rennes, certainly close to the University of Rennes 2, but still not easily accessible. These points aside, this is a great achievement that the public can visit as guided tours are regularly organized ( information here ).

Brazilian Hair Growing In Itchy

The castle of the Dukes of Brittany (Nantes)

In the tradition of my previous articles about the exposure of the written heritage ( here, here and there ), I would add the example of Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne in Nantes , visited those days. The museum is dedicated to the history of Nantes since Roman times to the present, with two highlights remarkably addressed: the time of milking and the triangular trade the one hand, the industrial period and the decline of other. A story sometimes painful but always presented with accuracy and intelligence.

course, in such a course, the Conservatives could not make the economics of Archives and chose to fully integrate to the course, among the objects, pictures or books. Their presentation is varied (flat, vertical boxes, prints, original, multimedia systems integration, etc..) As the choice of documents, some of which, by putting into context, even speak to who can not decipher (accounts, lists of slaves with their prices, operating balance). The result is particularly successful in my opinion anyway, and avoids the tedious aspect - and this despite the large number of submissions - that is too often criticized for exhibitions of archival documents. If you go through Nantes, do not hesitate is an inspiring example!
